First Aid For Mental Health Awareness - FAA Level 1

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This qualification is available to learners aged 18 years or over. In addition, the learner will need access to a computer with a reasonable internet connection to access the distance learning resources and communicate with the Trainer/Assessor via Zoom.

 

DELIVERY

This course will be delivered via two live session with an opportunity for some self-reflection. You must be available for both sessions.

COURSE SYLLABUS

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered including:

  • What is First Aid for Mental Health?
  • Identifying mental health conditions
  • Providing advice and starting a conversation
  • Stress
  • Mental health conditions

 

ASSESSMENT

Assessment will be ongoing and via a short 1-1 which will be booked with the assessor within the session at a time to suit your needs.

 

CERTIFICATION

An Award in Awareness for First Aid for Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. The learner will need to complete the full course again to re-qualify for a further three years.

 

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Michelle Hughes
Reach Support CIC


Michelle’s experience spans the voluntary, private and statutory sectors where she has supported young people and their families since 2002. Her work has included working in schools, colleges and volunteering in charitable organisations. Michelle also has vast experience in the early education sector.

Michelle delivers Mental Health training and First Aid training on a regular basis and continues to support young people as a mentor when not delivering training.

Michelle is ASIST suicide intervention trained, as well as achieving a diploma in Counselling Children and Adolescents, Mental Health Instructor qualification and First Aid Instructor qualification.

Michelle’s work around Mental Health has focused on reducing stigma, dispelling myths and empowering people to be confident to start a conversation around Mental Health when support is required.
