Autumn

At The Curiosity Approach we love to use everyday items you may have at home for new and exciting storage ideas. Why not use a vegetable rack/ breadbasket for your loose parts?

Our children had recently been interested in winding string around little sticks and threading using leaves, which was a lovely opportunity for developing their fine motor skills and to fire up their hand muscles. The resources were then left readily available for children to access as and when they chose to, stored and organised using an easily accessible tiered vegetable rack.

The way you organise the environment, the way practitioners care for and respect the children’s play space, is an important part of The Curiosity Approach, so have a look around your settings, are there better ways to improve easy access to children, do you use open baskets or are items all stored away? Rethink everyday items and consider if they can be reused in a different way? Enjoy the process...

You will need...

  • A tiered vegetable rack or baskets
  • Scissors
  • Twine or wool
  • A holepunch
  • Leaves and sticks collected from Mother Nature herself in the great outdoors
