Go back

Autumn

Seasons are changing

Have you noticed the Horse Chestnut trees are laden with the spiky green seeds, commonly known as conkers ? At The Curiosity Approach nature is a humongous part of our pedagogy, we ensure children connect and see the marvels of Mother Earth.   Bringing elements of nature into the environment and children’s play

Pleasant summer over,

And all the summer flowers,

The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!

Something bright in all!

Flowers in the summer,

Fires in the fall!

Robert Louis Stevenson

Conkers are such a wonderful interesting and curious object for children to explore and discover. I wonder what it inside? Why does it has so many spikes? You could place a collection of conkers simply in a basket for the children to discover, they're such a wonderful loose part or team with some play dough

Recipe

  • A collection of horse chestnuts (look in your local parks)
  • Play dough
  • rolling pins
  • magnifying glasses
