Settling Stories
Autumn
It is the start of a new term and we will all be welcoming new and returning families to our settings, it is an important time to build new relationships as the children settle into their new spaces and rhythms of the day. A way in which we like to support children on this transition is through story. Stories can lead to having a hugely beneficial impact on children as we know it helps them to support concepts and imaginative skills.
We tend to fill our areas with traditional familiar stories at this time of year, and ones that are about starting nursery. A firm favourite teaching that parents will come back to is Owl Babies, this beautifully illustrated story has a wonderful meaning. Teamed with puppets or story spoons to bring the story to life, this story will be repeated over the months as the children settle in, some children ask for this story as a reminder and reassurance that their parent will come back.
