Hello! I'm Kate, and I am Green Thought Toys!

I have a degree in Fine Art and worked as an artist for several years before starting my family. When creating my work, I took inspiration from the natural world in everything I did, a logic that makes even more sense to me now that I have children. I have a son and a daughter, both of whom are vastly different people with totally different ways of experiencing the world. They both utterly fascinated me from the moment they were born. I love watching them figure out the world through play and I found myself creating play resources to fit their interests and their developmental stages, without even realising what I was doing - I was making toys from day one! 

Crocheted and knitted products: All my crocheted and knitted products are made from 100% cotton yarn. No animal products have been used anywhere in the dying and manufacturing process. The cotton is manufactured entirely in the UK, meaning all employees are supported by UK legislation and employment rights. The dying house itself is a UK Living Wage employer.

Wooden products: I use two types of wood at Green Thought Toys. All the blocks you will find are made from solid oak. I exclusively use high quality offcuts from a highly knowledgeable local furniture maker. All the oak is originally sourced from FSC approved forests, which means that for every tree felled at least one more is planted. The oak is also PEFC certified, which promotes sustainable forest management and works to encourage good practise, producing high quality wood while respecting the environment and those who live within the forests.

I'll be adding more products in the weeks and months ahead. Everything is handmade, by me, and fully CE tested, so you know they're safe to give to your loved ones.

My biggest reward is seeing the absolute concentration and engagement on my children's faces when they are playing with a toy that I have made with my own hands, with my own love. I hope your children have that same look when playing with their own Green Thought Toy.
