Chinese New Year

Go back

Winter

A simple and respectful nod to The New Lunar year, following the interests of children without becoming consumed by Chinese New Years crafts, activities and a week long topic. These authentic resources are embedded throughout our provision on a daily basis. To celebrate this day we have set up invitations in a mindful way, helping provoke investigation, conversation and curiosity led by children’s interests and urges.

We have a delicious Chinese meal at lunch time, have conversations about Chinese New Year, we add red to water play, playdough teamed with gold and books about the animal of the year according to the Chinese Zodiac. Children play and experience through their natural curiosity with our practitioners sparking conversations igniting children's thoughts and interactions learning more about the Chinese culture all through PLAY.
