Wrapping Sticks

A fun fine and gross motor challenge for the children, using simple materials and providing opportunity for some calm during busy nursery days. Using cool wintry colours such as whites, greys and blue wool the children loved creating warm and cosy sticks (named by the children) a very cold winters day. This invitation to learning was placed outside inviting children to come and explore. We soon had a group, curious to explore the resources and without any prompting they started to cut the strands of wool and wrap them around the sticks. They shared wonderful conversations with one another about how they were making the sticks cosy wrapping them up into the wool strands.
